Question by Anonymous: My parents are ruining my summer?
My parents are obsessed with the global information network run by the infamous Kevin trudeau. I HATE it and I have to eat organic crap because of it. I am willing to buy my own food but they will no let me. Now, all of our vacations are related to heir meetings and my parents make me opt out of the airport body scanners because of their apparent radiation. I love getting felt up by a police officer as much as the next guy but I won’t get into that too far. Anyways, At the start of this summer, they took away my computer and turned off the tv subscription. I actually bought the computer and am willing to pay for the tv but am not allowed. Recently they took away the Internet so I could not join xbox live so all I did was forge mode on halo reach… Yeah not that fun. I woke up this morning and my xbox 360 which I also payed for was gone. I’m so freaking bored and it won’t be log before they take my phone (which I typed this out on) What do I do??? By the way I do play with my friends and go places with them biting can’t do that every day all the time. I actually had a paper that my parents knew I had to turn by June 7 and when they found out I took my lap top back they were not happy. It seems they are so bent on ruining my summer that they don’t care… I would get a job but I have a bunch of money they will hardly let me spend.

Question by -Chrissi-: summer jobs in Vancouver, BC?
I am deaf, so I would prefer to have a job that isn’t included in communicating too much.
Any great jobs for me this summer? I am becoming 16 soon.

The PNE and Playland at the PNE are good places for summer jobs. If you are comfortable communicating with other deaf people through ASL or HM Interface, you might be a great resource for other hearing disabled people who visit there. There’s about 80,000 people a day through the PNE and there are likely a lot of people who are deaf who would benefit from having a person there who can communicate easily with them.
A lot of ‘typical’ summer jobs tend to require some standard communication ability, but employers can’t discriminate based on a special need- I see lots of people who choose not to communicate verbally (both listening and speaking) and they seem to get along okay. If the job requires hearing as a key part of it, that’s one thing, but many jobs don’t. As you know firsthand, there are a lot of other things you can do to process information.

I think you are going to have a really hard time
getting a job. They are having a financial meltdown,
and unemployment is really high. They are going
to hire their own, before they hire a stranger.
Plus you are going to need a working visa
to legally work in an EU country.
