Question by lozenger12: What is the best way to become a Pilot as a career.?
I would like to become a pilot. I just finished school end of last year. Can anyone give me any information on what my best course would be to have the most opportunity to succeed in this career? Should I go to college? Air Force? College and Air Force ROTC then onto the Air Force?
Could I possibly work at some sort of airport or even volunteer to get some experience with planes? Would that benefit me at all?
Thanks in advance.

The Air Force is the best way. Pilot training is very expensive, but if you join the Air Force you’ll have paid training that is totally transferable to civilian planes. The obvious catch is that you have to serve in the Air Force before switching to the civilian commercial market. But once you finish your service, you not only have your training done at no cost, but you also have work experience on your resume to help you get a job in tough pilot job market.

Question by Seeker2008: What is the best way to keep myself healthy in this situation at my job?
I work at a retail store inside of the busiest airport in the world. Sometimes we have days where we work alone for 5+ hours per day, because my store manager is dumb and doesn’t want to schedule proper coverage so that there is enough coverage every single day so that no one is fighting to get a lunch break/bathroom break by calling stores on other concourses. It is actually an HR matter now – they are investigating looking at hiring a “floater” to go from store to store in order to give bathroom breaks and lunch breaks to employees – some of which are spending up to 6-8 hours alone with no break in return. Apparently I am one of the few people that finds it ridiculous and speaks my mind, because I am the one who got all of this looked at by HR. On top of that, the Department of Transportation (who apparently monitors our store Customer Service and whether we close the store or not) doesn’t want us closing the gate. In the past, employees have shut the store (a matter of pulling a long gate and locking it in multiple places – which draws a lot of attention) every 4 hours or so to go to the bathroom, when working alone. The store gets a fine from the DOT if we do that now. HR’s side of the story when I talked to them is to close the store even if we get fined. However, our Regional Manager and Area Manager lambast workers for closing the store to go to the bathroom. So it’s basically a he-said-she-said scenario and the whole company is against each other. I’m leaving there as soon as I find another job.
Until then, is it of any better benefit to me to drink a lot of water before leaving so that I won’t have to go to the bathroom later on during the day but will have still helped flush my kidneys? (within reason, of course…I know that drinking excessive amounts is also bad due to water intoxication and such).

They tell you off for closing the store to pee, you can’t leave the floor unattended to pee. So, get yourself a big bottle, and use that behind the counter. as you can’t wash your hands, get one of those alcohol-based anti-bacterial cleansers for your hands. present the filled bottle to HR and ask what alternative they suggest.
